shuats is an abbreviation for Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences. Previously, it was known as Allahabad Agricultural Institute. Evidently, it is a government aided university. Specifically, it is located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. This university was established back in the year 1910. It was founded by Dr. Sam Higginbottom. After its renaming it got named upon him. We will talk more about the founder later. Currently, this university accommodates more than 12000 students. Additionally, this university offers various undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. Also, this university is affiliated with ICAR, UGC, ACU, AIU, IAU and IAUA.

About the founder of shuats: Dr. Sam Higginbottom

His official name is Samuel Higginbottom. Evidently, he was born on 27th October of 1874. Also, his birthplace is in Manchester, England. At some point in his life, he used to be a Christian missionary in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. This place is now known as Prayagraj. While he was there, he found the Allahabad Agricultural Institute. In fact, while doing so his aim was to help improve the economic status of the rural population present there.

In 2009, the institution filed a proposal to the Ministry of Human Resource Development in order to rename itself. Thereafter, it was renamed from Allahabad Agricultural Institute to Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences. Indeed, this was done by the institution to pay tribute to its founder. Furthermore, Dr. Sam completed his education from Princeton University and Ohio State University. Lastly, while he was 83 years old, he met his demise in Florida, USA.

Infrastructure and other facilities available at shuats

The campus of this university spans across 1020 acres of land. Furthermore, the location it is situated in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh is very sub urban. Evidently, the academic infrastructure of this university is organized in 6 different faculties. These are agriculture, engineering & technology, science, theology, management, humanities & social sciences and health sciences.
